The Challenge

The industrial estate remained fully operational throughout the project, requiring continuous vehicle access for staff, visitors and commercial traffic.

Key challenges included:

• 3,200m² of carriageway resurfacing.
• Live operational industrial estate.
• Tight programme requirements.
• Maintaining traffic flow throughout the works.
• Coordinating large-scale planing and resurfacing operations.

A phased approach was required to ensure safe vehicle movements while allowing the works to progress efficiently.

Our Solution

We developed a traffic management and construction programme that allowed the road to remain operational throughout the project.

Works included:

• Planing off 50mm of existing asphalt surfacing down to the underlying concrete slab.
• Traffic management implementation to facilitate phased construction.
• Completion of all planing operations within a single day.
• Resurfacing of approximately 3,200m² using 50mm SMA10 asphalt.
• Surfacing works completed in two phases, one side of the carriageway at a time.
• Final compaction and quality control inspections throughout the works.

This phased methodology enabled safe access to be maintained while ensuring efficient delivery of the programme.

The Results

The completed scheme transformed the appearance and functionality of the estate road network.
